9th Annual Residents Meeting
The deadline line for submissions has now passed.

Gain speaking experience by presenting a scientific abstract or interesting/unusual case in a low-pressure environment. This is the more formal of the two submission options. See case reports for less formal submissions.

Outstanding abstracts are eligible to win prizes, including travel awards to attend the ACOMS 42nd Annual Scientific Conference and Exhibition at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, NV, April 24-26, 2021. All accepted scientific abstracts will be published in OOOO journal.

Submission Requirements

  • Abstracts should be scientific in nature, including research data from a number of cases or procedures.
  • Abstracts should be ready for publication and may not have been previously submitted to another meeting or publication.
  • Your Program Director or another faculty member from your institution should be listed as a contributing author and must have signed-off prior to submission.
  • Submission is open to all OMS residents who are registered to attend the meeting.
  • Submissions are limited to 500 words, including all of the following elements: Purpose, Method, Results, and Conclusions.
  • The abstract text should be typed single-spaced as one paragraph.
  • All references included in the text should be numbered and accompanied by the full citation, including author’s names, title, journal name, volume, number, inclusive paging, and year of publication.
  • One figure/chart may be uploaded. Any submitted figures or charts will be published on the bottom of your abstract.

Tips for creating an effective scientific abstract are located here and here.

Presentation Guidelines

Selected oral abstracts will be allotted ten minutes: eight minutes should be dedicated to lecture and two minutes for questions and answers. Typically, presenters create a PowerPoint to accompany their presentation. The PowerPoint may contain additional graphics or other visuals related to the abstract. Selected presenters will be notified of their time slots once all abstracts have been reviewed.
