Pre-Conference Virtual Surgical Planning Hands-on Symposium
Virtual surgical planning (VSP) is rapidly becoming the standard of care for correction of complex dentofacial deformities. This interactive cadaver program will help OMS and OMS residents gain advanced knowledge and skills to take advantage of this technology to improve patient outcomes and save valuable time.
The experienced faculty will focus on the use of virtual planning software and its applications in orthognathic surgery, with advanced principles of creating guides and jigs, use of intraoral scanning, and surgery first principles and planning with virtual software. The hands-on cadaver labs will translate the virtual world to the clinical.
Computer aided computer simulation provides tremendous preoperative insight into the dental and skeletal movements anticipated, osteotomy orientation and positioning, and accurately transfers the virtual plan to the correction of the malocclusion and dentofacial deformity. The efficiency offered by VSP when compared to conventional model surgery can return hours to the surgeon’s day through a more streamlined work-up, smoother intraoperative experience, and confidence in the surgical accuracy.
