One of the core responsibilities of the ACOMS is our obligation to support the training of young oral and maxillofacial surgeons and their residency programming. The College supports research and the development of projects by residents throughout the United States by sponsoring research awards to residents and fellows in the OMS field. Additionally, fellowships in specialized areas are funded by the College. Such support is indicative of the College’s increased emphasis on the value of studies performed by housestaff, the relevance of research, and the professional discipline of publication in preparing young oral and maxillofacial surgeons to be able to increase the level of patient health care. Below are some of the advantages afforded to OMS residents by the College:
